Tiger’s Midland yard sits at the center of the oil and gas industry between Odessa and Midland, Texas. The facility supplies rental equipment to industrial upstream operators working across the Permian Basin—a vast sedimentary basin in West Texas known for its rich mineral and fossil fuel resources. As the highest-producing oil field in the United States, the Permian averaged about 6.5 million barrels of oil per day in 2024. The basin stretches roughly 250 miles east to west and 300 miles north to south.

Despite its size and prominence, the Permian is often oversimplified as a single, uniform play. In reality, it is far more geologically complex than other well-known basins such as the Bakken, comprising multiple distinct sub-basins, each with its own defining characteristics.
